Finalist Post

If you made it as a finalist you can use this post to comment on phase 2.

By the way, I think we can all agree this contest came down to some manner of luck rather than knowledge or skill. Even though I didn't make it as a finalist, due to technical difficulties on Google's part, I still enjoyed playing and discussing the quest.

Good Luck to all of the finalists!!

I doub't this means anything at this point but here it is. I am sure they will go back and look at time submissions. And since my original submission errored, I am doubtful of actually being a finalist. But, keep trying to re-register if you didn't get the following screen. Maybe you'll get lucky.

If you want to play one of the puzzles again but noticed that you can't, try this link from Sagron (Thanks!!)

No clue when they finished, but notifications are going to be around the 15th.

googlefact - how do you know that you are not one of the finalists? one of my friends finished the contests at 1330 EST and was able to register.

About the Google error screen - I can't believe that they had to make that go live today ... Even if the page refreshes by itself, I get the error.. uggh!

Just because you could register does NOT mean you are a finalist. You won't find out until they notify you.

In Australia, you are directed to a form to enter the competition. You must give a 50 word suggestion on what the next adventure of Langdon should be.

sagron - a lot of people have been getting error messages (read the post before this one) that "the contest has ended".

ramadu - I realise this, but some people have registered after others have gotten that error message.

I think I registered succesfully, but I'm more irritated that I can no longer play the puzzles.

What's up with that?

Anyone got links?

googlefact - Google was smart enough to change the questions (from the questions that were decompiled in the other blog). Dunno how they did it, but that is smart and threw people off. I guess they were expecting people to do this sort of thing ...

Considering their mailing it via US Postal Service I doubt the cryptex's contain the layer of glass with chemicals in it that would destroy the contents.

Wasn't it vinegar inside the codex? Hardly dangerous. But I agree I doubt it contains such. The ones I looked at to purchase don't have glass vials either. But they function as they should in relation to keeping items secure. No one expects them to create the replicas down to every detail described in the book.

I couldn't remember what was in them, but usually any liquids in glass wouldn't be safe travelling in our postal system :p.

Hey elizabeth, you suck at blogging. ;-) J/K - but where are your blog entries?!

I'm kind of sad it's over. What am I going to do to relieve the monotony of my day now? Hopefully I'll be one of the 10,000 and can delay finding the answer to that question.

BTW, I was entered at 1:14 p.m. CST. Probably one of the last.

Hey, at least she has a pic... I just posted something on my blog :p.

At 5/10/2006 2:31 PM, Blogger Tekee said...

Well... When I finished the puzzle, I was directed straight to the entry form (name, address, zip, phone#). I never got a "puzzle completion" form as is mentioned in the rules????

At 5/10/2006 2:46 PM, Blogger Unknown said...

The "Puzzle Completion Form" was the puzzle itself, the redirected form was the one where you filled in name, address, etc.

At 5/10/2006 2:46 PM, Blogger MGianniny said...

What exactly is the "Puzzle Completion Form"??

At 5/10/2006 5:15 PM, Blogger Tekee said...

Right...I never got the single field asking for my Google ID...Just the one contest entry.

At 5/10/2006 5:17 PM, Blogger Tekee said...

Whatever, I just want a Codex. Probably will have to get gouged for one on e-bay!! I dont know though, I finished my entry form at about 1:03 ET.

At 5/10/2006 5:38 PM, Blogger Tekee said...

But it never asked me to enter my Google ID?

At 5/10/2006 6:00 PM, Blogger Tekee said...

Im gonna go with that explanation, thanks you've eased my mind. BTW can I use that word it is a good one "automagically!"

If possible can the writer of this blog confirm that so far there has been no confirmation of who the finals are?

Or if there was an e-mail sent out to finalists, could you should the content of that email?

At 5/11/2006 11:27 AM, Blogger Me2U said...

The module's text changed to
Thank you for participating in The Da Vinci Code Quest on Google. We hope you had fun.
If you enjoyed the Quest, then you won't want to miss The Da Vinci Code movie, in theaters on May 19.
Does that mean I am not a finalist? "We hope you had fun" is written in explicitly past-tense.

http://www.google.com/davincicode is a static page. The actual html is a page called final_puzzle_too_early.html, so I'm guessing its the page that the scroll in the Cryptex will take you to.

I haven't received an email yet, despite posting at 1:08 EDT. Could have been too late.

I'm wondering how many people were playing this game.

Got the finalist email, and the Cryptex.

Woohoo!

You can see the email and click through to the congratulatory message on my blog.

And an interesting observation. I wouldn't sell your Cryptex on ebay just yet...
